Concrete for Grande Dunes, Arcadian Shores and the north end of Myrtle Beach
The north end is where the Strand's architectural committees live. We draw it the way they want it, pour it to the city's spec, and mix it for the salt air a block from the beach.
The north end of the City of Myrtle Beach runs from the Dunes Club and Pine Lakes' northern edge up Kings Highway past Restaurant Row to the Arcadian Shores and Briarcliffe Acres line, with Grande Dunes spreading from the ocean across the Waterway to the Members Club side. It's the most reviewed concrete on the Strand: Grande Dunes, Kingston Plantation, the Dunes Club and the gated streets off Lake Arrowhead Road all route a new driveway, a widened apron, a pool deck or a golf cart pad through an architectural committee that wants a drawing, often a plat, and a finish that matches the street. It's also within a mile of the ocean almost everywhere, which means every slab is a marine-exposure slab — a 0.40 water-cement ratio, 4,000 psi, fiber or coated steel on chairs, and a sealer on anything decorative so the sun and salt don't bleach it.
Inside the city limits the apron rules are the City of Myrtle Beach's: six inches, 3,000 psi, fiber mesh, five-foot radii, twenty feet maximum at the property line, form and final inspections. Grande Dunes' Waterway side has its own HOA drainage standards on top of the city's, and the homes along the Intracoastal sit in mapped flood zones where fill is regulated. The work here is driveway replacements on 1980s–2000s homes, stamped and bordered entries, pool decks and resurfacing, golf cart pads for the Dunes and Grande Dunes cart communities, and under-house slabs for the raised oceanfront homes along Ocean Boulevard north.

Questions from Grande Dunes & Arcadian Shores homeowners
Does the HOA need to approve a new driveway?
In Grande Dunes, Kingston, the Dunes Club and most of the north-end communities, yes — and the committee usually wants the drawing on a survey. We prepare it; approval typically takes a couple of weeks and we schedule around it.
Is a stamped driveway allowed?
Most north-end communities allow stamped borders and bands and some allow full stamped drives in approved colors; the committee's guidelines decide. We've done enough of them to know what passes.
Why is concrete more expensive a block from the beach?
The mix: a denser, higher-strength, air-entrained concrete with coated or fiber reinforcement, plus a sealer. It's a few hundred dollars more on a driveway and it's the difference between twenty years and seven.
Can you pour under my raised oceanfront house?
Yes — the parking and storage slab under a raised home is a common job on Ocean Boulevard north: poured around the pilings, sloped to drain, and set to the flood zone's rules for enclosed space below BFE.
